Stoptober is an annual campaign that runs through the month of October, encouraging smokers to stop smoking for the month. It has been proven that if you stop smoking successfully for 28 days, then you are 5 times more likely to quit smoking for good.

This month is full of hints and tips to help smokers stop, alongside activities and ideas to help smokers quit the habit completely.

There were over 964,000 campaign actions, whether this was a quit attempt or a positive claimed action, with 12.3% of all smokers reporting a quit attempt.

Stoptober takes all of the key components of stopping smoking and brings them together to help those who want to quit, become smokefree.

During Stoptober, you will see a variety of changes on social media and websites such as:

  • NHS Smokefree app has had an update to be more user friendly and relevant during Stoptober
  • More graphics and infographics with stop smoking hints and tips
  • Articles and long form social posts with success stories from other quitters and ways to keep you smokefree.
