Before Coming to the service I had stopped smoking for 18 months, but I started smoking again when my mother was diagnosed with Dementia. One morning I went to the shops to get a pack of cigarettes, and it was £12 a pack and it was then then I made a decision that I wanted to stop smoking, apart from the cost of cigarettes, I noticed that I was getting breathless when I was walking, my husband and sister do not smoke and the house was stinking of cigarette smoke. One day I went to the GP and had my blood pressure taken and I was advised that I need to stop smoking and was referred to the stop smoking service.

I got a call from the service and had my first appointment booked. I started to come to the clinic and after talking to the advisor, I set my quit date. I would recommend people who smoke to come to the clinics, from my experience coming to the clinic was helpful. As I continued to get the support it made stopping smoking easier though there were some bad days, but the advice and support kept me going. I started to see the benefits of stopping smoking, my skin got better, and my breathing improved. I came to the clinic once a week, the vouchers were an added bonus for stopping smoking. I was always looking forward to my appointments with Simon, he was friendly and encouraging.  I recommend the service to anyone who needs support.
