Last May, I lost my husband, and during that difficult time, my smoking escalated to 30 cigarettes a day. I felt overwhelmed and turned to smoking more than ever to cope. But soon after, I had to undergo an operation, and the doctors made it clear that I needed to stop smoking. That was the wake-up call I needed—my health was at stake, and it was time to make a change.
Twelve weeks ago, I had my first appointment with the Wakefield Stop Smoking Service at the Salvation Army Clinic in Castleford. With their support, I haven’t had a single cigarette since. After 40 years of smoking, I’m proud to say I’ve quit—and I feel fantastic!
Since quitting, I can breathe so much better, and I’ve noticed a big improvement in my overall happiness. My family is incredibly proud of me, and that makes this achievement even more meaningful.
If I can quit after 40 years, I know others can too!
