What was your main reason for accessing the service?

Since I was diagnosed with COPD and after spending time in hospital last year with lung problems, I had to make the choice to give up smoking so I would still be around to see my grandchildren grow up.

Did you believe you could achieve 4 weeks Smokefree?

To be honest, no I did not believe I could do it.

Have you used stop smoking medication to help you quit?

Yes,I have used Niquitin patches and Nicorette inhalator

How helpful did you find it?

Very helpful especially the inhalator

Apart from medication, what else helped you to quit and stay smokefree?

My grandchildren, and to prove people wrong who said I would fail, also the help and support from my smoking advisor Sally Hampshire who has been very supporting.

Did you visit the Yorkshire Smokefree Webpage?

Yes

Has your health improved since you quit and if so, in what way?

Yes, I no longer have a 30-year cough! I suffer from cough induced syncope which made me pass out, since stopping smoking I have not had one episode.

Other than health, have you achieved anything since quitting that you couldn't do whilst smoking?

Not really no

Has the current lockdown helped with your quit or has this made quitting harder?

I don't think it has made a difference as I suffer from mental health problems and never really leave the house anyway

What have you found helpful accessing the service via the Telephone?

To have someone to talk to when times get hard and the encouragement given by advisor, I don't think I would have made it this far without Sallys help and support.
