My name is David; I have been smoking for over 20 years.
Last November, I was hospitalised with a nasty chest infection and breathing difficulties. That was my turning point. My body was telling me that is time to quit smoking.
When I was treated for my chest infection, the Quit team at Doncaster Hospital reached for me on the ward and provided product patches and inhalators to help me quit smoking.
The products were beneficial, and I stopped smoking; after being discharged from the hospital Yorkshire Stop Smoking Service called and supported my not-easy journey.
My advisor, Heather and Wioletta, were constantly beneficial, showing compassion and excellent support and reassuring me that I was on a good path.
I find each non-smoking day easy, and my health is slowly improving, as well as my breathing.
Both advisors supported my journey and explained how my body would react so I knew what I could expect each week.
My advice from last year is to quit that bad habit because your health is more important.
